Work on the Emmerich-Oberhausen railway line starts on 1 November Lines affected: RE 5 (RRX), RE19, RE 44, RE 49
Due to the expansion of the railway line between Oberhausen and Emmerich, there will be partial closures, closures and timetable changes in the period from 1 November 2024 to 18 May 2026.
Work on the Emmerich - Oberhausen railway line
The work will be divided into full closure periods (no train services between Oberhausen Hbf and Wesel/Bocholt and between Emmerich and Arnhem Centraal) and partial closure periods (restricted train services).
On the RE 5 (RRX), RE 19, RE44 and RE49 lines, there will be different replacement bus services during the various periods.
From 25 November 2024 until the end of the construction work, there will be a new replacement platform/replacement station in Friedrichsfeld in the street "Am Industriepark". This will be served during the partial closures.
In addition to the rail replacement service with buses, it is also possible to offer or find car pools via the VRR commuter portal. Simply register free of charge at Nordrhein-Westfalen.Pendlerportal.de and save money and resources.

The timetable changes are included in the VRR and DB online timetable information before the start of the construction work.
Tickets are not available on the buses. Tickets for buses and trains can be purchased online via the app or at the stations (not at the bus stops) from the ticket machines or in the customer centres.
