Modernisation completed: Project participants are delighted with the new features at the Dortmund University stop

At the Dortmund University stop, four escalators were modernised and the staircase enclosure renewed. These measures are part of a DB Station & Service programme designed to increase customer satisfaction and ensure seamless mobility.

VRR promotes modernisation in Dortmund

VRR has supported the project at the Dortmund University stop with around 2.2 million euros. The funding is part of a programme to modernise so-called "conveyor systems" such as escalators and lifts. The programme comprises a total of eight installations at five stations, including the Dortmund University stop.

The new escalators have significantly improved mobility at the station, especially for people with limited mobility. The modern escalators offer a higher load-bearing capacity, a connection to the ADAM digital asset management system and increased speed for travellers.
